Quick reply. $75 service call fee is standard. I was astounded by the bid, which is sight unseen, but I described this is a shower drain leaking at the connection between drain flange and drain pipe. A compression fitting. Crawl space is stand up height at 5’ plus. The shower base is clearly contractor grade acrylic/fiberglass. They quoted $750, and all brass fittings which is super nice when we get to remodel the entire bathroom. I think it would be safe to say “it’s not cost effective for them to do small jobs”.

Declined to even consider my project. I needed a simple 90deg elbow replaced. I could have done it myself but I wanted someone with more experience then me. His response: “I dont do those type of projects.” Guess I wasn’t important enough to him, even though he had a time slot available.
