My name is Matt Smallen and I am native to Portland Oregon where I have worked full time as a professional handyman since 2017.
I have experience in nearly all aspects of residential home maintenance and repair including carpentry, electrical, drywall, laminate flooring, trim/molding, tile, painting, doors, windows, cupboards, decks, fences, & more.
I drive a full-sized one-ton van with a full array of heavy duty contractor grade tools and can transport most materials if needed.
I am a meticulous detail oriented handyman, and take the time needed to produce high quality results. My work is backed by a 2 year workmanship warrant and I carry liability insurance.
Working as a handyman is something I enjoy a great deal, and you will always find me to be up beat and easy to work with. As a teenager I worked for my father (3rd generation masonry contractor), grandfather (carpenter & general handyman), and a residential house painting crew.
My hourly rate is $65 for regular handyman work. Electrical diagnostic & repair is a $85 service call fee and $85/hr. For a lot of specific jobs I can quote you a price as well.

Matt is great to work with. He’s responsive, knowledgeable and willing to explain options before anything is committed to. We had him do a variety of things (light replacements, baseboards, drywall work and countertops install). The quality of the work is top notch and he was a pleasure to just be around while the work was being done. I’d recommend and rehire him in a heartbeat. Do yourself a favor and see firsthand.
