Stephen M. says, "There's some people that are gear geeks and have the best equipment money can buy, but they just. don't. have. the. mojo. to pull off what you need. Ric isn't one of them. He's got great gear mind you (and he can geek out with the best of them), and one of the best studio atmospheres at the Monastery (it feels so good you don't want to leave). But more importantly, Ric knows the signal chain really well. That everything starts with the best performance, then instruments, then equipment. One classic Ric moment was when I asked him what he did to to a certain compressor that made the guitar part sound so rad and he replied, "I don't know... I just turned knobs until it sounded good." He's a wizard with the knobs and he'll make you sound really good. You can trust Ric with your vision. I highly recommend paying him a visit and hearing his passion for music."See more

I'm a guitarist, educator, and researcher with a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. My teaching experience spans university classrooms, private lessons, online instruction, and ensemble direction, working with students ranging from young beginners to adult professionals. As a Teaching Fellow at UNT, I taught courses in Jazz Appreciation and Digital Audio Workstations (Logic Pro and Ableton Live), directed the university's premier jazz guitar ensemble, and taught applied jazz guitar lessons. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their goals, interests, and learning style while building a strong foundation in technique, musicianship, creativity, and confidence. As a performer, my musical voice is rooted in jazz while drawing inspiration from blues, rock, funk, and contemporary styles. I enjoy helping students not only learn songs and develop technique but also understand the "why" behind the music; whether that's improvising over a jazz standard, writing a solo, understanding harmony, or simply playing their favorite songs with greater confidence. Outside of teaching, I remain active as a performer, clinician, and researcher. I have presented at the Jazz Education Network Conference and was honored as the 2026 DownBeat Graduate Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist winner. I'm also a PRS Guitars Pulse Artist and continue to perform, write, and develop educational resources for guitarists. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, preparing for auditions, developing your improvisation, or looking to take your playing to the next level, my goal is to create a supportive, engaging, and encouraging environment where you can grow as musician.See more
