I originally highly recommended Amanda and Hillbilly Barter and Trading Company. Amanda refinished the top of my farm table beautifully. I was very pleased with the results and immediately wrote a very positive review. A few days after Amanda returned the table, I sat down at it with a client. The table wobbled so badly that my tea almost fell off the table. The client who had sat there before for meetings said that the legs hadn’t been screwed in properly. I contacted Amanda and she was willing to come over and fix it. But that never happened … she’d collected her money and wasn’t interested in fixing her mistake free of charge. Instead, she blamed it on the faulty table design- the screws attaching the legs to the table weren’t any good because the holes were too big. However, when she picked up the table, she decided to remove the legs. She had trouble removing 3 legs and was unable to remove the fourth. So I’m stuck with a table that wobbles so much that it’s almost useless. After Amanda didn’t carry through on her promise to fix it, I reported the issue to Thumbtack. She isn’t responding to any of their calls or texts. I would never hire that company again. Yes, the table top is nice but it wobbles so much that it really can’t be used.

Hillbilly Barter & Trading sent me two young men to assemble furniture including an IKEA dresser that looked light a nightmare to put together. They also repaired a broken table, hung some heavy mirrors and carted away a boatload of heavy cardboard. Doug Stinson provided excellent and timely communications and offered a more than fair hourly rate. Jesse and Jackson showed up right on time and were very personable. They worked extremely hard and fast. It was not easy to find a company that offers "Handyman" services. The other few that I found asked 4 to 5 times what Hillbilly charged me. I recommend this terrific family operation wholeheartedly.

Had a great experience working with Hilbilly Barter. She took a dresser that was in really bad shape and turned it into a beautiful piece of furniture. It’s exactly the look I wanted and she was so easy to work with and responsive during the process. Highly recommend her for your next project! Can’t wait to find another piece of furniture for her to restore!!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically for a handyman or remodel job we have a set price of $20.00 per man hour plus materials. For furniture pieces it comes on a piece by piece basis.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to meet with our customers and discuss what they are looking for for their project. Throw some ideas back and forth sometimes even do a drawing of what your looking for before we start work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been in business since 2005. We have learned a great deal along with way and have hired people within our company who have many years of experience in multiple fields
