FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our fees are based on the total scope of work of the project, which can include looking at the existing conditions, the amount of design required, the need for structural design calculations, local zoning and planning requirements, and site plan changes. Sometimes a project is small indeed, and sometimes a small project can have implications that affect or trigger a lot of conditions. I often hear that I as an architect I am just drawing a line on paper, but one has to consider that the line in question represents a dozen different decisions and can mean the difference between a successful project and a poorly executed one. Also, I like to explain that regardless of the project - big or small - it is a lot of times the same amount of work that we have to do to some degree. We still have to satisfy the same guidelines for the small addition as we do for the whole new house. But of course, we try to keep our costs down and take all factors into consideration before we give a proposal for our work.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will discuss your project needs and goals, what type of program you want and how it will relate to other elements, what type of aesthetic you want, and lastly what your working budget is. Once that is established, we can decide if KAD is the best fit for your project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 20 years working in the full spectrum of architectural projects, from horse stables to hospitals and everything in between. I graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, after serving 8 years in the United States Marines.
