Introduction

I not only know sewing and alterations, but I also teach it. Teaching requires not just knowledge but understanding. I believe that being a professional-level instructor has made me a better seamstress. I'm not only a seamstress but a designer too. This allows me to come up with creative solutions to sewing problems. I now also offer wedding gown preservation and cleaning. I enjoy working with people one on one. For this reason, I work by appointment only. I am also solution-oriented and enjoy the process of bringing full satisfaction with my service. Quite frankly, I like to "make pretty"! :-)

I do quite a bit of elaborate sewing myself, but when it comes to alterations, there is only one person I trust. Fatima has been my seamstress for nearly 10 years now. I wouldn't go to anyone else. When I purchased my wedding gown, the salon I purchased it from offered to do my alterations very cheaply. However, I wanted a very elaborate bustle and I was not going to trust such an important job to some stranger in the back room who has been sewing for God knows how long. I called Fatima and not only did she perfectly alter and bustle my gown, but she went above and beyond, color-coding the bustle ties so that it would be easier to do on the wedding day. I have been to 3 weddings where the brides' bustles all broke mid-reception. Not one tie on my bustle ever came loose on my wedding day. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of her work as well as her work ethic. Not only that, but she makes alterations fun. When you hire Abishai for your sewing jobs, you're not just getting a seamstress, you're getting a friend.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have very general ranges. Because of the nature of what I do, prices can vary greatly. No quotes are exact until I see the item in person. I do the best I can to give some general ranges before I physically see what I'll be dealing with.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer 1 on 1 service. For this reason, I work by appointment only. I try to find out as much information as I can prior to the appointment to ensure the most efficient use your time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been sewing since I was 9. I was making my own clothes in high school. I would say the bulk of my professional level sewing was learned and put to practice as the Alterations Manager of a high volume David's bridal. I was there for about 10 years.
