Tanya H. says, "June 2024, I hired Tyshawn to install a ring camera at my friend's house. The project was successful and based on his work, I chose him for other projects in my own home. Through text messages, I sent Tyshawn images of the projects I needed completed and we negotiated a price. We scheduled for him to arrive at my house on August 3, 2024, at 7 AM. However, 30 minutes before his scheduled arrival time, Tyshawn contacted me to inform me that he had an emergency and could not make it. He assured me that he would be sending his partner Javier instead. Though hesitant since I had initially contacted Tyshawn through Thumbtack, I asked if his partner had proper identification and he confirmed that he did. When his partner arrived 1.5hrs late, it took them a total of 7.5 hrs to install drop ceiling tiles in a basement closet measuring 3 x 12 ft and set up an Allen & Roth closet kit in a small bedroom closet measuring 5x2 ft . I showed Javier an example of my closet how I wanted the closet kit installed with 4 poles instead of 3 poles as previously done. Javier said “Ok” without any issues. He informed me that he had finished the job, but upon inspecting the closet, I noticed that 4 poles had not been installed as requested. He explained that the box photo only showed 3 poles and he was missing a piece to install the 4th pole. He also installed 3 uneven shelves even though the box image showed 2. While this was not my main concern at the time, I later discovered that the drop ceiling tiles in the basement were loose and moving when I touched them. When I brought this to his attention, he assured me that it was done correctly. However, due to being late for an appointment, I had to leave hastily and paid him $550 in cash. Upon returning home and cleaning up the mess left behind, I found the missing piece needed for the 4th pole. When I contacted him about this issue, there was some resistance on his part as he pointed out that the box only contained 3 poles. He promised to come back and install the additional pole when time allowed. It is worth mentioning that while referring to the box contents again, it should be noted that it also stated there were only 2 shelves included. Nevertheless, I chose not to raise any complaints about this matter. On a later date, the installation of the pole was finally completed. However, on August 12, 2024, I noticed that a large portion of my drop ceiling tiles were on the floor and some were hanging from the beams in my basement. I immediately contacted Tyshawn to inform him of this issue. He explained that he had contracted the job to another company that he typically works with and assured me that Javier would come and fix it. Unfortunately, as of today, August 18, 2024, despite multiple attempts through calls and text messages, the ceiling remains unfixed. I am disappointed to have been ghosted in this situation as I had trusted that my project would be successfully completed. As agreed upon earlier, I paid in full without hesitation and expect the same level of professionalism and timely completion on Tyshawn & Javier’s part."See more
