Antonio M. , estimator and worker did project. Over the phone gave me good quotes and was nice and friendly. Spoke to him over the phone a few times, said his business was slow and was eager for work, want the job. I initially was going with another contractor but, he decided not to continue. So concrete steps had been broken up from the surface. I called Antonio back and he came out to see project, saw the broken surface steps , so I informed him there was more concrete older steps that was formed, and I wanted them broken up and everything built from new. He stated that is the only way he does it. Price was going to be 4000. And he would do 6 feet landing with new concrete only, no red brick edges like I wanted with landing. I was on budget and timeframe. So we continued for the job the next day,. He comes with his other worker and is removing old pieces that were already there and then says no need to break the concrete stones that I had pointed out to him on the day he gave the quote. I thought about it and say then I should have a lower price since doing less work, but he insisted same price. So I end up paying a price for less work that I was quoted. Also threatened to come back and break up his new bricks if I did not pay the balance due. On 1st day he requuired 1/2 deposit which was2000. ...I gave him on in person estimate expecting the work to be completed as agreed,...today project is finished cause I am on timeframe, surface looks good, but I know that he refuse to break up stones on the underpart not seem and cover with cement, even though this is what I was paying for ..demolish all and make new. Since did less, surface is nice, but old underpart is still there and he insist on charging same price. I pay balance in full cause I want no problems, his threat and unprofessional tone with me, now that he got me to pay deposit . definitely changed during the project. He did put me on the phone with owner, who he said is his wife, but apparently she she did not want to do anything either. So beware of this people because it seemed I t changed after I gave them my 2000. Deposit You may want to get references, something I did not do, references that are similar to the type of job you are getting done. A lesson to be learned!
