FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The most common form of billing for us is the hourly rate. We keep our time to the quarter-hour, and we only bill for the time we put into a project. If a client insists on a fixed fee, we tend to make it high in order to protect ourselves. A good compromise tends to be an hourly rate with an agreed-upon cap. Many clients like the comfort level that provides.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It varies a bit depending on the project, but in general it start with a phone conversation or online chat, often followed by a site visit. Once the client is ready to proceed, we draft an Agreement for signature and arrange a time to come back to the site to take measurements, sign the Agreement, and accept a retainer payment. We will then draw the existing conditions and proceed with a first draft of the proposed design. Once the client approves these preliminary drawings, we commence working drawings which will then be used by the contractor for obtaining permits and construction.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master's of Architecture and am licensed in 3 states.
