FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is 50 dollars for an hour and 15 minutes. Rates may vary depending on a student's needs and if there is travel time involved. Nothing is set in stone, so please do not hesitate to talk to me about your budget, and I will try to work with you. I put a great deal of time and energy into preparing for every lesson before sitting down together. My lessons are customized specifically to each student and his or her goals. The cost of my lesson planning is included in my hourly rate. I am a firm believer that a well-planned lesson is a successful lesson. You can trust that you are getting much more than just our one-hour time together. My lessons include handouts, copies of everything we cover, and take-home material. If a client wants to pre-pay and schedule 5 sessions upfront, I can reduce my hourly rate. I look forward to helping you achieve your English speaking and proficiency goals while having fun!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I work with students one-on-one or in small group settings. I typically start the first trial session with an oral and written exercise. This helps me get to know a prospective client and assess his/her ESL level. I also use this time to listen to pronunciation, grammar, intonation, and fluency. During this first session, we will discuss a student's goals and objectives in detail. I spend a lot of time lesson planning and am always prepared! I make the lessons relevant to a person's life. In that way, my classes are fun and engaging. You can be confident that every minute of our time together will be used positively and constructively. As I get to know each student/client better ( and this will take a few sessions), I can tailor a program specific to that client's needs. I build upon strengths while identifying and working on areas that need improvement or are causing difficulties. I know from experience that if a student is willing to work hard during the session and do the work that I assign as homework ( it's fun), they will absolutely make significant gains, feel more confident, and get the results they are looking for.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified ESL instructor. I have a 120 hour Advanced TEFL certification/ License number # 1709191. I also have a 30 hour Teaching Young Learners Certification (same license number) . I received my IELTS ( International English Language Testing System) certification on June 5, 2018. I completed a training program emphasizing basic literacy tutoring and English as a second language, which was sponsored by a ProLiteracy America affiliate and conducted by a ProLiteracy America Certified Trainer. As a result, I am certified to instruct. I am an independent contractor/instructor for the Triangle Literacy Council. I was also certified to tutor adult ESL through the Triangle Literacy Council. I taught a beginning ESL class with 30 students and an intermediate/advanced ESL class with 8 to 12 students. I tutor all levels of ESL students privately or in a small group setting. I can do this in person or online. I prefer in-person lessons as I think a student will benefit more from our time together
