FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to customize for each project because no two are the same. In addition, many residential projects are more tightly budget based, so the charges are scaled to reduce my fee. Typically, I charge a one-time $200 (cash) fee for our first on-site consultation visit. I charge for travel to distances more that 45 minutes from Charlotte. When design begins, I have a minimum square foot charge of $4.00 per square foot of affected design area for initial design through to construction/permit documents.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial introduction is preferably face to face to discuss parameters of the project and determine time frame and budget for drawing and construction completion. I obtain a signed contract and small retainer before I begin sketch ideas and final documents. Afterward, an approved sign-off authorizes me to proceed with more detailed documents for construction and permits. I perform a minimum of two (2) site visits during construction. The budget will be constantly monitored.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Master of Architecture degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and most recently was an ICC Certified Building Official/Inspector in the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts. Most recently, I’ve been listed in Strathmore’s Who’s Who Worldwide Edition.
