Introduction
I've always shot weddings in an unobtrusive manner and the rest of the field has finally caught on that capturing the wedding day as it is is so much more interesting that some photographer's version of what your day should be. Not too many other photographer's out there have 20 years experience shooting in this style and still create fresh, unique images that tell one couple's wedding day story. My couples LOVE me and I've never gotten a complaint in a very complaint prone field! I'm also very willing to try new things... that's the way I can best reflect the needs of my clients and the way I can give the very best customer service. Besides, learning only helps my observational skills! I love that every wedding day is different. The couples are unique, their dynamics are unique, so their stories are unique. Even though weddings do have a certain flow to them, I love that every wedding day story will be different visually and I get to be front and center and tell that story. I love that my couples are so appreciative of my work. Their complete openness to the process and forgetting I'm there is my best kept secret... that allows me to do my job and I love them for it! It's also a great way for me to listen to wedding vows weekly and think about my own fabulous hubby!

Marci photographed our wedding in October of 2010. I love to look at the photos, and I marvel at how her creativity and attention to detail provided us such wonderful images. Marci listened well and took our requests seriously, while also being honest about what would and wouldn't work and contributed her own ideas that would produce better images of our wedding. She created strong posed and editorial shots for us. We wanted to get through the posed shots in the church after the wedding quickly so that we could move on to the limo and celebrate! Marci coordinated our big group well and finished fast. The images came out great, too! We went to a park afterwards and she caught a vibrant red-leafed tree in the background of our photos that really portrayed the beauty of the warm fall day. The editorial shots were beautiful. She provided us wonderful images of our parents and grandparents, especially of Grandpa getting down on the dance floor! Side note: At the reception, she had safety pins ready when my bustle broke! We also did not have to wait long to receive the final images (received within 2 weeks) on a DVD. We liked this format because we wanted the freedom to create our own photo album and to print as we please. And, as any budget-conscious bride is dying to know, her prices are very fair! She is very clear and up front about all the logistics and costs. I confidently recommend Marci Curtis as a phenomenal wedding photographer.

Marci did an excellent job photographing our wedding! She was not afraid to get into uncomfortable positions in order to get the best photos. Everyone in our wedding party was extremely impressed with Marci's photography and work ethic! Marci was always there taking the photos that counted and some that were just really cool observations of what was going on with us and the guest at the party without being in the way. The photographs Marci took of your wedding were very unique and caught us and our guest in a very unique way. The photos of the children were also very nice! We appreciate having all the hi-rez images on disk and having the ability to do what we want with them. Marci was very reliable with everything, including the timeline she gave us on when we should expect the disc with the photos. When we got back from our honeymoon they were already in our mail box. Marci took so many excellent photos of our wedding & reception it took us about 4 hours to go through them all. We will cherish those photos forever!

Amazing!! She was our best wedding vendor. She captured the entire wedding perfectly. Her candid shots are just great and they really show everyone's emotion. She knows who and where to take pictures at a wedding. Great value and you get the rights to all your pictures which is a huge plus!! I would recommend her to anyone that needs a photographer and will use her in the future!

Marci is a fabulous wedding photographer! She captured my special day on August 13, 2011 at Addison Oaks in Leonard, Michigan. Marci is extremely passionate about what she does and it shows in her work. She is reliable and makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed on what can be a stressful day. It stormed on our day and Marci was able to take some great shots of us with the stormy sky in the background. She captured the day just as it was and gave us wonderful photos to remember how great it was. I would STRONGLY recommend Marci to be your wedding photojournalist!!!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Obviously, I shoot a lot of weddings, but I also shoot portraits on location. This can be newborn babies in their homes, boudoir photos in someone's bedroom, seniors at a park or school, families out and about, photos for business that want to update their employee photos or have photos on the web showcasing themselves or their products. I also shoot events like bar mitzvahs, engagement surprises and corporate events that want something more casual and personalized. And yes, every once in a while, I'll still actually shoot for newspapers which was my bread and butter for fifteen years!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

It's become easier for clients to look at photographer quickly because they can see work online, but it's hard sometimes to get a feel for the photographer's continuity wedding in, wedding out. It can also be challenging to get a sense of who that person is, so read all those review sites, you'll quickly start to get a sense of the good, the bad and the ugly. Most importantly is finding out if you like not only their work, but who they are as person and that's hard to do online. So meet with them, or talk to them. Sadly, you'll end up spending more time on your wedding day with the photographer than you will with your spouse, so if the photographer is an uptight bossy boots, move on. There are plenty of upbeat, helpful and calming photographers out there who have YOUR best interests in mind rather than their own!
