Introduction

I am an educator by background and love to work with all ages of family members. My background in biology, and many years of contact with wolf research give me more insights into your dog's behavior. I'm a skilled positve trainer with years of experience but I am always learning new things to make my training even better. I've had lots of experience working with fearful dogs, boisterous dogs and dogs that were driving their owners crazy. I work with each dog and each family as individuals. I enjoy getting to know both people and their dogs. Dog training is not a one-size-fits-all business. Each family and each dog has it's own circumstances, gifts and sensitivities. My job is to help guide and problem solve in each new environment. Dog training takes lots of empathy, thinking outside of the box and a big dose of humor. My clients and their dogs become my friends.

We were having some trouble with our dog Dooley (Miniature Schnauzer). He, in the past had shown signs of aggression towards people (mainly small children). I found Beth through an online search and we had arranged an in-home visit. I am a strong believer in Positive Dog Training and it was evident that Beth was more than qualified. Beth was very knowledgeable and caring towards Dooley. Her patients with us was extremely helpful. After working with Beth and reading her book we have been able to build up Dooleys confidence and better understand his needs through being more aware of his signs of stress or discomfort. Beth's training methods made the world of difference in our relationship with our puppy. Training became fun for both dog and owners. We purchased several copies of Beth's book as gifts for family and friends who live out of the area, because we thought their dogs would appreciate enlightened owners as much as ours does!

I found Beth's positive training methods to be just that POSITIVE. I started with Beth to help teach me how to train my labs when they were about 10 weeks. They took to the postive method so easily and it is much more satisfying on the human too compared to the old school of scolding, yanking and smacking. I've taken my dogs into public areas to get them socialized and people will come up to me and tell me how well behaved they are. Beth gives you the tools and insight to a well behaved dog. I highly recommend her.

Beth is very talented at reading dogs and working with their personality types. She makes the training easy for the person to understand and follow too, so you can reinforce what she teaches the dog on your own. My dog has fear issues that Beth was able to help alleviate. I agree with Beth's philosophy that a dog and his/her person should be partners, not one dominating the other.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will meet with you in your home at a time that is convenient to you. The moment I walk in the door, I will begin training your dog. I will work with you and help you learn the most efficient dog-friendly ways to help your dog become your best buddy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, The Pet Professional Guild, and am also endorsed by TV trainer Victoria Stilwell. I attend seminars, conferences and workshops to continually learn and update my skills. I am on the core staff of Dog Scouts of America. I have completed all the requirements of the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers
