FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is typically based on an hourly rate that averages around $200/hr. Travel is included in that price for the immediate Grand Rapids area, a fee will be charged for traveling outside of the area. I require a 20% deposit when booking, final payment is due the day of the shoot.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Anytime I'm working with a new client the first thing I do is listen and learn about what my client is looking for in order to have a full understanding of what the shoot will entail and if I'll be right for the job. If I can help and the client agrees that my style aligns with what they are looking for the next step I take is to make a shoot plan as to ensure I get all the shots, details, and angles clients are looking for. From there we can go over the shoot plan as briefly or detailed as clients would like to and make any adjustments necessary. Once details like dates, times, and shooting plans are agreed upon I go over pricing and discuss what services and packages would suit the client best. After agreeing on pricing I present my clients with a contract or photography agreement that entails all the details we've discussed. The contract will also include a nonrefundable deposit in order to cover any expenses I have in preparation for our shoot. Then you are officially booked! I come take your photos on the agreed upon date and time, and get to editing afterwards. My editing process typically takes 1-2 weeks, sometimes less. If prints are included in the package it may take longer while photos are being printed. During that time I will digitally send a few sneak peaks before I'm done just to double check that you like the way the photos are being edited and make any adjustment if need be. Once I'm done editing photos will be delivered, however clients prefer, as quickly as possible.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always loved photography. I had been doing it as a hobby for a while when I found myself unhappy in the job I was in. Dealing with spreadsheets all day just wasn't for me. I love working with people, capturing memories, and creating artworks in the process. So I took the plunge to start my own business and focus on my art full-time.
