- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We are hourly in most cases. We won't be the cheapest but we won't be the the most expensive. Some services may include parts at a flat rate. If the cost of a repair exceeds the value of a machine we will recommend replacement over repair. Due to a recent behavior of short notice cancellations up to no one being at the service/job site upon arrival as well as failure to pay we need to post this clearly: Terms and Conditions: Any scheduled appointment constitutes a binding contract for service. Any conversation had through Thumbtack's messaging system, email, texting, or via phone call that is working towards a solution to a problem is considered "a service" and is thus billable as such. Any conversations concerning scheduling or setting up an appointment are not billable. Listed rate on Thumbtack is a base hourly rate and does not include parts prices. Any parts required for any service/job that exceeds $50 requires a deposit for the cost of all parts unless otherwise agreed. Cancellations: All cancellations must be done via Thumbtack's message system 48 hours prior to the scheduled date and time of service not counting weekends or holidays. An $85 cancellation fee will be assessed for all cancellations less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours not counting weekends or holidays. Any cancellations less than 24 hours up to the time of departure for said service will be assessed a $170 cancellation fee. Failure to cancel that results in us showing up for a prior agreed service because you have "forgotten" about the appointment, "changed your mind" and failed to notify us, and/or aren't present for any reason for the service to be complete will result in a no notice cancellation fee of $255 plus a $50 fuel/mileage/service charge to be assessed ($305 total). Any failure to pay any of the fees will be reported to Thumbtack (it costs time and gas and other business fees to drive out to a location that has failed to notify us of a cancellation). Our standard rate is $85 an hour unless otherwise agreed upon (2 hour minimum). Additional hours billed in whole hours beginning 15 minutes into the next hour. For any travel over 30 minutes or 30 miles (whichever is greater) there is a 1 hour travel charge ($85) one way unless otherwise agreed upon. Hours: Our normal business hours are Mon-Fri 8 AM-4 PM EST, except for holidays. Mon-Fri from 4 PM-8PM EST and Sat & Sun from 8 AM-4 PM EST is considered after hours and will be billed at time and half (127.50/hr) including travel, except for holidays. Mon-Th 8 PM-8 AM EST is considered emergencies and will be billed at double time ($170/hr) including travel, except for holidays. Sat & Sun from 8 AM-8 PM EST is considered emergencies and will be billed at double time ($170/hr) including travel, except for holidays. Fri-Sun 8 PM-8 AM EST is considered premium emergencies and will be billed at double time and a half ($212.50/hr) including travel, except for holidays. All Government holidays beginning at 8 PM the day prior to 8 AM that day after a holiday are considered premium emergencies and will be billed at double time and a half ($212.50/hr) including travel. Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are viewed as part of the holidays as are both Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends in their entirety. Payment: We accept Credit Cards (PayPal), Zelle, Cash, Cash App, and Venmo. All billing is done through PayPal for Business and does not require that the customer has a PayPal account in order to pay. PayPal Service Fee = 3.49% + $0.49 for debit & credit card / 0% from PayPal balance or bank transfer - it is your responsibility to notify us of which payment type otherwise the fees will be automatically added to the bill/invoice. Venmo Service Fee = 1.9% + $0.10 for debit & 3% fee for using a credit card / 0% fee for transferring from app balance - it is your responsibility to notify us of which payment type otherwise the highest fee will be automatically added to the bill. Cash App Service Fee = 3% fee for using a credit card / 1.75% fee for instant Transfer via debit card / 0% fee for transferring from app balance - it is your responsibility to notify us of which payment type otherwise the highest fee will be automatically added to the bill. ***Note - on PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App trying to claim you are using a debit card or app balance to circumvent the appropriate service fee will result in a separate small bill to recoup that difference plus that transactions fee as well. We do not accept checks without prior notification and approval. We do not accept money orders under any circumstances. Payment is due in full upon completion of service. Exceptions: For any large or long term projects a formal contract will be written up, agreed to, and signed by both parties. Penalties: 15% late penalty will be assessed if not paid within 30 days from receipt and every 30 days thereafter. Failure to pay within 90 days, including all late fees and any resulting legal fees, will result in a filing of non-payment and legal action will be taken. When and if legal action is taken, any and all legal fees, including filing fees and lost hours will be the responsibility of the customer and added to the amount sought in court. - What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Start with make and model of computer (PC or Mac) and a description of the problem. Assess what the goal of the service is. We will also make recommendations if any machine is not current on Operating System or Virus Protection as well as any other relevant recommendations.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
9 years of college and multiple certifications. 30+ years of experience in computer (PC's and Mac's) builds, repair/service, and maintenance for both commercial and residential clients. Also do commercial structured wiring.
