Introduction

Listening to the customer is key and working out a plan that works for the owners and their dog(s) will result in success! I check in with my clients between lessons to see how things are going. I enjoy watching the transformation of owner and dog come together to build an incredible bond. The satisfaction of my success is when they don't need me anymore and I move on to help someone else. I am now offering Puppy, Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Scent and Rally classes at 4 Paws Spa & Training Center in Forest Hill Maryland. Sessions are 6 weeks and the cost is $210.00. Clare Owings has been working with my 18 year old son and his 8 year old Labrador/boxer, with obedience training. On the first visit, I could tell immediately, she had the perfect personality and patience to help make this a pleasant experience. I found her ad in the local paper, and contacted her, without any prior references. Clare was available the next day, and arrived several minutes early for the first lesson (And each one since). She charges a reasonable fee , considering she provides more than just dog training. She has a genuine interest in my son and his future. They talk extensively about anything and everything...high school, college, life. Clare comes to the house for lessons and has also met at a nearby park.....wherever is convenient for my son. I highly recommend Clare Owings! We are fortunate (in many ways) to have found her!

My trainer was Claire and may I say.... she was excellent from the first day of training. I have a 6 month Great Dane and with her expertise, she provided a plethora of information for me to utilize daily in making sure he doesn't pull and listens on command. I definitely would recommend Claire!

We had two 2 dogs 13 years old and my daughter recently introduced her 2 year old dog when moving back home. Things became out of control, especially at feeding time. Clair worked with us and the dogs and it was amazing how quickly they responded to the training! Life is good again. We continue to use her to keep the dogs in check.

Trainer arrived on time and provided a lot of good information about training. Took her time with each pet did not feel like we were rushed . Gave us great examples and instructions tailored to each of our two dogs and we are already seeing positive results . Would definitely recommend her to anyone needing help with traning. Overall great experience, will definitely do again.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge by the hour. I do offer 6, 8, and 16 weeks of training with payment in advance and 6 months to complete the training.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I contact the owner by phone and talk about the main issues that they dog(s) are having and what is the most important thing(s) that the owner wants to correct. I ask several questions about the dog, the current feeding habits, daily exercise, etc. Then put a plan together for that dog. We start to implement the plan on the first visit. The owner gets homework to work on until our next appointment.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been training dogs since 1985. I have put AKC conformation, obedience, tracking and rally titles on my dogs. I have put an UKC conformation title on my 12 month old Aussie and a Herding Certificate Title on sheep. I attend workshops regularly on new training methods, competition obedience, herding and listen to audio conferences. I am currently enrolled in Susan Garrett's Recallers online program. I attended the Top Dog Obedience Workshop in June 2017, will be attending one in August 2018 and attend weekly obedience classes. I am currently competing 3 Aussies in Obedience and Rally for 2017-2018.
