John P. says, "The incredibly bad unclean condition of my apartment, especially the 20 years of cigarette smoke accumulated on all of the walls and on all of the windows along with equally horrible grime buildup in all of those sliding-window tracks and almost all of the above with furniture preventing access, and additionally the tub/shower enclosure with lime and grime and soap buildup that was simply beyond my ability to tackle, had finally gotten to the point that despite their years of patience with me the Housing Authority refused to pass me on my recent annual inspection and sent me a Get-It-Done-Or-Else sort of letter with an upcoming re-inspection date. When all of the Housekeeping Services, the Cleaning Services, and even all of the so-called Deep Cleaning Services that I called had astonished, fearful, daunted, dazed faces upon seeing what would be involved in accepting my job they either simply and honestly said "We're not up for this big a job" or "We'll call you back with a price" and then never called or texted back (one even blocked my number so they wouldn't have to talk to me after initially telling they would take the job - I swear to God!) I finally posted an honest description of the difficult work I needed done on Thumbtack, and Angel's Touch Construction was one of the first two contractors to respond expressing interest in taking on the job. So, after reading their excellent reviews and researching them even more deeply and finding that they are more than a Construction Company and that they do all kinds of large, medium, and small projects along with painting jobs, cleaning jobs, and a variety of other kinds of work, I responded to Rodyn's initial message. Rodyn then got back to me again very promptly and came to my apartment with Dora the next morning to see the job and to give me a price. I accepted their quote and we decided to proceed with the work the very next morning. Dora and two more of the Angel's Touch Construction crew members arrived promptly the next morning and got right to work, working earnestly and purposefully. There were a number of things, both surfaces and objects, that on the previous morning I had told Rodyn and Dora not to bother with and to just ignore during the job, but it seemed as though Dora and the two crew members who with her were quite determined to leave my home in as near to the clean condition that I found it on the day I moved in 20 years ago, and then they did just that. They definitely did more than I had asked and that I had explained that I wanted and needed done. Thank you, Rodyn. Thank you, Dora. And, thanks, too, to the two of you that accompanied Dora in accomplishing my job."See more

What tools do you need to repair drywall?

To repair drywall, you need up to several tools and materials. For example, you may need a drill to insert drywall screws and boreholes. A drywall saw or utility knife is perfect for cutting and shaping drywall, and don’t forget your tape measure and pencil. Drywall and taping knives are also essential.

For materials, you’ll likely need construction adhesive, drywall tape, drywall screws, masking tape and joint compound.

If you don’t have these tools — and you don’t want to spend money on them — contact a drywall repair professional instead of doing it yourself.

How do I find a good drywall contractor?

View their ratings, and read their reviews to see how they did on past drywall projects. Who do I hire to install or repair drywall?

A general contractor, handyman or a drywall contractor (or company) can usually install and repair drywall. It’s recommended that you call one of these types of pros when your drywall needs to be repaired, such as after a plumber or electrician has completed their work.

Look up local pros online and compare their profiles, paying extra attention to their ratings, reviews, experience and list of services. Contact three to five pros to get cost estimates for your project.

Do drywall contractors need a license?

Pros may need to obtain a license to fix and install drywall. It’s always worth checking with your local government about whether a drywall company or contractor has to be licensed before they work on your project.

Do drywall contractors do insulation?

A drywall contractor focuses on drywall. If you want to install insulation (or upgrade your existing installation), you should hire an insulation contractor. It's possible that your drywall contractor may be able to offer basic insulation services, but for more advanced insulation installation (such as spray foam), go with a professional who specializes in this.
