FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Nothing is mass produced for starts, so the nature of custom furniture negates general universal pricing. There are so many subtle idiosyncrasies and changes that make each peice entirely unique. Final cost comes down to type of wood, finish, size, ornamentation etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
With any potential client, the initial meeting is the "napkin sketch" stage, where it is a brief meeting on ideas and interests, concerns and basic design. I like to get a feel for the clients personality and hear their expectations for me and the project. Depending on the work being done, the time in between the first and second meeting is usually spent drafting or drawing the project. During the second meeting, time is spent reviewing the plans, confirming schedule, discussing payment and getting excited for what is to be done. After a contractual agreement, work can begin. Sometimes, I get a very vague description of what a customer wants and the trust to be creative enough to surprise them with something great.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
