Very pleased with UA Construction’s team and the professional job they did with our shower tile. Worked really well with us and if we didn’t like something it was changed or fixed until we were happy. They were quick to respond to emails or messages and patiently answered all our questions. Will definitely hire again if we decide to have more work done.

The UA team did wonderful work on our two bathroom floor remodels. One included carpet removal and laminate floor install and the other involved floor and wile tile demo and installation. After the first day of tiling work, I had noticed a tile was chipped and that a few tiles needed to be re-leveled. I was worried that these wouldn’t be able to be fixed since the mortar was setting but David handled the situation professionally and was very responsive, assuring me that they would take care of it first thing in the morning. The next day, my critiques were clarified on and accurately addressed. I am very appreciative of their meticulous and efficient work!! Very pleased that they went above and beyond with their services. I highly recommend!

We’ve had David and his crew do two different floors for us now. They’re fast, dependable, and a pleasure to work with. Would absolutely recommend them.

My experience with UA Construction was a mixed bag. I clearly communicated the items that I needed done, and David was prompt to contact to discuss the project. I explained that I had a limited budget, due to replacing an HVAC simultaneously, and David explained that my budget ($1,500) was on the lower end of the totem pole for what they would usually charge for this type work; however, he was willing to take on the job, if I paid cash. I agreed, and we got on the books. David came by and did the walk through, we discussed a few items — such as his reluctance to relay the upstairs hallway flooring as requested, since he did not feel that was a necessary of the job and he felt they could transition the stairs to the existing flooring. We also discussed tightening up the banister of the stairwell; he assured me that they could tighten it up using quarter round. This did not get done and liquid nails were used instead, leaving the banister as loose as it originally was. Finally, when the crew was on site, I requested that they peel back the LVP in the kitchen and repair two small (3”x3”) holes in the subfloor that a previous contractor left; they agreed to do this for an incremental $300. David’s crew of 2 came by and were slightly late but nothing major, and they quickly got to work. The crew did a great job with the installation of LVP flooring on my stair case, as well as installing the baseboards. However, as the day progressed, the work quality seemed to deteriorate slightly. At nearly 5pm, the handrail was not installed as requested, nor was the banister tightened. I did not have the hardware to install the handrail, as I was clear with what materials I would provide (risers, treads, and handrail). This oversight ended up costing me quite a bit. It was hard communicating with David’s crew due to language barriers, but I reminded them about the handrail and offered to go to Lowe’s to pick up the mounting hardware. They assured me they could do it without the hardware, and I advised that would be acceptable, as long as the solution passed inspection. David’s crew cut up the 8’ handrail to create a piece of wood to fasten to the wall, leaving the handrail too short. The top two stairs do not have a handrail now, and this does not pass inspection and is recommended to be corrected. I have additional baseboards that need to be installed, so I reached back out to David to correct the handrail and get a price to install the new baseboards. I was told that it would be another $500 (plus materials) to replace the handrail. While I understand that there was a communication gap and I have some responsibility, this is not an acceptable solution for me, though it is certainly the one that I am left with. I will be incurring the expense to have a different contractor repair this. In summary, David and crew do above average work; however, I would warn to be crystal clear on expectations and get a written scope of work for those that use the contractor. Not the worst experience I’ve had in KY but not exactly ideal, either. Additionally, finishing details (like caulking brad nail holes on baseboards) were overlooked and not performed), due to what I’m assuming is time constraints. At the end of the day, I’m pretty satisfied with the staircase itself, but the small issues on my project left me feeling like I didn’t quite get $1,800+ (after I pay for another contractor to repair the damages) worth of value from contracting with UA.
