Introduction
I'm a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently moved to Lexington KY after more than 10 years of offering private guitar, bass and ukulele lessons. I believe that music is primarily and most importantly meant to be an enjoyable means of creative self expression and entertainment, and as such my teaching puts a strong emphasis on ensuring that learning an instrument is a fun and engaging experience.
My curriculum is heavily personalized to fit the needs and preferences of each student, choosing whenever possible to pull from songs and artists the student is already familiar with to teach new techniques and concepts. I've taught an extremely wide range of styles and genres, my personal musical background is primarily in Punk, Indie, Ska, Rock, Folk, and Flamenco. You can expect to develop a repertoire of your favorite songs, learn basic upkeep and maintenance of your instrument, and build an understanding of and confidence in your ability to express yourself through your own improvisation and songwriting.

I've been very happy with Gabe as a music teacher. I have a 12-year-old daughter and this is her first introduction to music. Gabe has been extremely encouraging without being pushy, and has made a significant effort to choose music by artists that interest her. Within a few lessons, my daughter switched from guitar to ukelele; luckily, Gabe teaches both, so the change was seamless. I'm pleased with Gabe's professionalism, communication, and flexibility and I've already recommended Groovy Gabe's to other parents.

Gabe is an excellent teacher that always shows professionalism and patience. Each lesson is taught at your own pace and takes into account musical interests. He regularly transcribes your favorite songs to your current skill level. Highly recommend.

Gabe teaches my 7-year old ukulele. He is really good with her, introducing her to the basics of the instrument but also about music and music appreciation. He is very patient and is able to keep her engaged. I highly recommended him!

Gabe is an amazing guitar teacher! I have learned so much from them, beginning as a real beginner and now I’m much more confident. They are so patient, engaging, and they love what they do. They have helped me pick out music selections based on my skill level and interests (professionally as a rabbi and personally) to help me progress smoothly. I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to have lessons over zoom this past year!
