Ayana C. says, "GDL Flooring saved us big time. We tried to replace the toilet in our guest bathroom before my in-laws arrived as it had been leaking and causing a mess. Only for us discover that the flooring also needed to be replaced.  This was supposed to be a simple diy project but soon started to look like an impossible task. There were 2 layers of linoleum flooring, which were so hard to remove, and we just didn't have the patience to deal with it. So we decided to hire someone to remove and install. That's where GDL Flooring came in. They responded quickly, and we set up an appointment the next day.  We appreciated how receptive Oscar was by text as we fielded questions and made sure we had everything ready for them to install on such short notice.  We originally were just going to have them refloor the area around the vanity, but amended the request to include the whole floor. The next morning, they arrived promptly and immediately started working. Within 2 hrs, our new floor was installed. We had them install some of the baseboards and then had them cut the rest to size so when I plumber installed the toilet and vanity, we could just install and paint them ourselves. Thanks to their quick turnaround, we were able to have our guest bathroom back up and running by the end of the weekend."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much are oak hardwood floors?

Installing oak hardwood floors can add value and beauty to your home. The cost of hardwood floors is typically based on the overall square footage of your new floor, the type of oak you select, any repair work your subfloor requires prior to installation, and any demolition costs to remove your old flooring. Other factors that will affect your total cost can include the regional cost of labor and business overhead of your flooring company.

A flooring installation company may charge $3 per square foot for standard installation. For hand-scraped (higher-end) ¾-inch oak planks, the cost is approximately $7 per square foot, for a total cost per square foot of about $10 as long as no repair work is required. Standard oak planks are available from big-box stores for as low as $3 per square foot, so the quality of oak you want will affect your total project cost.
