Mahar Fabrication Studio LLC is your only answer for sturdy, handmade, commercial furniture in the Chicagoland area. We’ve worked with small and large businesses across Chicago as well as homeowners who value quality work. Owner Andrew Mahar was a welding instructor for 3 years with City Colleges of Chicago. Our combined 17 years of custom welding, woodworking and acrylic fabrication experience is what truly sets us apart from the others. Andrew did an incredible job creating desk space and shelving around an existing file cabinet. He was true to his word for the turn around time, made great suggestions for the design and was fabulous to work with. We love how the project came out. We have an old house with challenging walls and he worked around all obstacles with ease. He even hand made the brackets to fit the design!

If I can give 10 stars, I would!! He was able to transform a picture into something amazing. My other contractors were so amazed by his work quality, that they want to work with him directly or for their own home. Andrew is all things you want in a contractor obit can’t find. Professional, attentive to his work, excellent communication and his vision and recommendations are always spot on.

Andrew is a complete pro. I had a very specific area in my older building and he was able to account for all the imperfect angles and odd space. He went out of his way to find the perfect wood for me and even helped remove some of the old stuff. Highly recommended for custom carpentry.

Andrew was excellent! He took on a unique job and was very knowledgeable and thorough and even made the effort to do additional research just to confirm that he was able to provide the best solution for my massive steel door. He did a great job and even made sure to clean up after the work. His pricing was fair and reasonable and I highly recommend him.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $80 an hour for shop/delivery/installation time + materials + tax
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally each customer has some idea of what they’d like going into the process. Through phone or email we can discuss exactly what you’re looking for and then I’ll ask you send a few pictures of the space and any furniture you’d like to match the piece to. In some cases we come take measurements (if something is built into a wall, for example) but often times the customer gives a estimated size and we go from there. After that, depending on our schedule you’ll see your furniture deliver in 6-8 weeks.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Andrew Mahar (owner/operator) has 6 AWS (American Welding Society) certifications in MIG and Stick welding applications along with 2 ASME TIG welding certifications. On top of those he has an Associate degree in Welding and Fabrication from Northeast State Tech issued in 2011 as well as a 2 year AWS backed welding school certificate issued by New York State in 2009.
