After two lessons with Tim, several things are already clear: He quickly susses your skill level and desires and begins his work right there. His lessons thoughtfully and skillfully build on each other. He makes you think. He challenges you, but only, I believe, if you want to be challenged. If, like me, you've been trying for about a year to learn to play jazz, you could probably take a lesson a week for a decade, and he'd still be helping you improve.
When he teaches remotely, he's good with the technology, and although your phone camera allows him to see your fingers, he really only needs to use his ear. He's at his piano while you're at yours, and he'll sometimes play to demonstrate a point and to develop your own ear. Between lessons, he texts or emails practice materials, and he includes helpful and instructive videos of himself playing effortlessly the homework you need to prepare for your next session.
He's kind, helpful, good humored, patient, and whatever other adjectives could be used to describe a terrific teacher. I count myself lucky to have found him.
