Do not hire, they will rip you off! This is going to be long, but I don’t want anyone else getting caught in this situation with this company.
Spoke to the owner of the company (Lavardo/Lazaro: excuse me if it’s spelt wrong) on the phone 3 different times and we talked in depth about a flat rate of $350 to move an upright piano. He mentioned how they usually charge more but would do a $350 flat rate and promised me that I wouldn’t get this kind of a deal anywhere else for this kind of top tier service. I pulled the trigger and decided to hire them. (Keep in mind I had other options who offered the same rate of $350 but decided to trust GA State Movers because they were very reassuring and professional ONLY in the beginning).
I am a full-time in person student so I couldn’t be there physically, and they said that was ok. After the job was done they called me and said it’s $450. Lavardo denied ever offering $350 and told me they wouldn’t leave my property until I paid it… At this point I’m shocked and upset that I had to step outside of my class to handle a rip off situation. Lavardo got so worked up and unprofessional on the phone to the point where someone else on the team had to grab the phone from him and finish the conversation with me (which by the way, this other guy was so much more professional and held the conversation with understanding and a level head, so thank you to whoever you are).
They showed up late. Said they’d do it from 9am-10am but came after 10am. Even the lady I bought the piano from texted me about the lateness.
They also texted me the morning of the move and called me “Mia” (that’s not my name). They said Mia was their second client of the day and got us mixed up. So to me, it sounds like they either mixed up their clients and didn’t remember what rates they told me verses Mia, OR they saw my house and then decided to unethically charge me $100 more… whatever the case, it was wrong.
I do not tolerate unfairness, however I do believe what goes around comes around. I paid them what they wanted because I had to get back to class and didn’t want them on my property any longer; however I also made them aware that my review would bluntly reflect this unprofessional experience honestly. Regardless of safely delivering the piano or not, what happened was absolutely wrong and how they handled it was unprofessional. They failed to honor their word and since it wasn’t in writing they used that to their advantage. I would never recommend or hire them myself again. If for some reason you do, get EVERYTHING they tell you on the phone in writing.
