Linda H. says, "Title: Exceptional Exterminator Service by Dan - A Five Star Performance! I cannot praise Dan, my exterminator, enough for the outstanding service he provided in removing a squirrel infestation from my attic. Dan’s approach to solving the problem was not only effective but also incredibly humane. He went above and beyond by adopting and training one of the baby squirrels, which truly shows his dedication and compassion towards animals. What truly sets Dan apart is his commitment to thoroughness and attention to detail. He took the time to inspect and repair the areas where the squirrels were accessing my home, ensuring that the problem would not recur in the future. His proactive approach in preventing further issues was truly commendable. Furthermore, Dan’s customer service is exceptional. He not only followed up to ensure that the squirrel issue was completely resolved but also provided a warranty for peace of mind. His continued communication and support demonstrate his professionalism and genuine care for his clients. I have no hesitation in recommending Dan and his company for any pest control needs. Tonya N. says, "Where to begin? I know we’ve read this many times before…but I truly rarely write reviews. Although asked, it seems as if it is such a huge inconvenience out of our day to stop and write. If you think about it, it really takes a disruptor (good or bad) to motivate most of us to do so. In this case, I’m pleased to have a good, no a wonderful disruption. One word, Scott. I am so grateful I found this man of GOD via an Internet search. Why do I call that out? Because it speaks to the very essence of WHO he is and HOW he conducts his business. No worries, he’s not preachy or anything like that. He shows his beliefs through his actions. He is a walking example. Foremost, his integrity speaks volumes. He is an honest businessman which unfortunately is almost nonexistent these days. He does not try to nickel and dime you for his services. He also does not upsell his services. He will tell you “no, you don’t need that” and/or throw in services because it’s simply the right thing to do. Notice how I haven’t even address/describe the service yet? It’s because in my opinion what truly sets him apart is his soft skills. He is a people person, someone you can trust. That plus the fact he is knowledgeable about his craft is an amazing, unique combination. I called his office around 8-ish one morning, spoke to his receptionist and he was at my home the same morning! While that may not always be the case, I’m happy I got to experience that. I thought there were squirrels in my fairly new purchased home. My home sat vacant for over a year and has a cow pasture (yes, you read that right…cows) in my backyard. I’m sure all kinds of woodland creatures made the house their home. Turns out, it was not squirrels bumping through and scratching the night. It was mice. I secretly cried as it was yet ANOTHER issue with this newly purchased home. Scott reassured me he could get rid of them. I signed up to have the house sealed. While an unexpected expense, it was then best thing I have done. Fast forward a month later, I can now rest in my home without the worry of any of Snow White’s friends being in here comfy and cozy with me. Scott has thrown in “extras” such as installing guards I purchased online over my exterior vents to prevent squirrels from entering, gutter cleaning and extra visits to check the traps. On his last trip, he threw in sanitizing the attic and basement spaces. He also shared recommendations for other household services such as pest extermination and tree removal along with the names and contact info for reliable vendors he personally uses (no gatekeeping). Y’all! I HIGHLY recommend you call Scott at Rodent Rescue for any of your rodent needs. Do NOT hesitate. He also offers gutter guard services, which I plan to use towards the end of the summer. Scott, thank you so much for everything. I hope to see you, the wife and kids at a summer bbq in my yard."See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What kind of pests and bugs are in Atlanta?

Mosquitos, termites, ants, spiders, cockroaches, flies, bees, bed bugs, stink bugs, palmetto bugs and more can all be found in the Atlanta area. To protect your home from these nuisance pests, consider hiring one of the best pest control companies in Atlanta.

How do I choose a pest control company in Atlanta?

You’ll find the best exterminators in Atlanta by first comparing companies side by side. Read online reviews, and look for information about the experiences customers have had with each pest control company. These reviews can paint a picture of a company’s customer service and reputation.

Pest control companies and professionals in Atlanta must have a structural pest control company license, so make sure the company you choose is licensed. The company should also be skilled at treating common Atlanta pests such as termites, flies, ants, spiders and more.

Once you’ve found a few companies that seem right for the job, contact them to receive free estimates. Ultimately, choose the pest control company that is reputable and charges a fair price.

How much does an exterminator cost in Atlanta?

Based on estimates provided by local pros, some of the best exterminators in Atlanta have costs as low as $40 to $50. However, the actual price you pay will be determined by several factors, including the types of treatments you need. For example, bed bug extermination costs several hundred dollars. Other factors may include the driving distance, the scope of infestation and whether you’re hiring the pro for ongoing services or a one-time visit.

Are bed bugs common in Atlanta?

In previous reports and rankings, Atlanta has ranked as one of the top cities with the most bed bug cases and treatments. Residents in Atlanta who have bed bug infestations should refer to resources from the Georgia Department of Public Health, take immediate steps to treat the infestation and contact a top-rated bed bug exterminator in Atlanta for help.

Do I need to leave the house for pest control?

It depends on the type of pest control service you require. Your exterminator can often tell you beforehand which products they’ll be using and where they’ll be applying it.

If the pest control company will be applying toxic chemicals, limit your exposure, according to the National Pesticide Information Center. For example, consider leaving your house during application and ventilate your home thoroughly when you return. And always keep your pets and their supplies away from the applied pesticides.

Talk to pest control companies near you for advice on what you should do while they’re treating your home for pests.

How do you get rid of ants?

The best way to get rid of ants is to hire an ant exterminator near you. The exterminator can also help you find the source of the problem that’s drawing ants into your home.

After they’re done treating your home, you can invest in ant baits to keep infestations at bay. It’s also important to take preventative steps to avoid ants.

For example, always clean up crumbs and wipe down surfaces to eliminate potential food sources. Regularly take out the trash, fix leaky pipes, store your food in sealed containers and seal cracks near your kitchen cabinets.

Here are more tips on how to get rid of ants (for good).

Is monthly pest control necessary?

Monthly pest control service is only necessary for certain situations. For example, severe ant or cockroach infestations may require monthly pest control in order to destroy the infestations at the source.

Talk to the best exterminators near you to get an idea of what type of service you need — and how many times you’ll need follow-up treatments.

How much does it cost to kill bed bugs?

The cost of bed bug extermination depends primarily on how widespread the pest infestation is and how many rooms need to be treated. Other factors that can affect bed bug extermination costs are the amount of clutter in the location, additional furniture that needs to be treated, and construction of the home. Pest management professionals often have rates for room treatments, which can vary based on these factors. As an example, a pest management company treating a 10-by-15-foot room with light infestation might charge clients about $250, while the same size room with a heavy infestation and large amounts of clutter might cost the clients $300-$400. Clutter and heavier bed bug populations mean more product and longer labor time for the workers. Rates will vary from company to company, and from region to region, but the national average bed bug extermination cost is $320-$400. Bed bug heat treatments are an alternative way to exterminate these pests. Heat treatments are typically charged per square foot and tend to cost more than chemical or non-chemical spray solutions. Although effective, they are not usually recommended for occupied spaces, as the extreme temperatures can damage televisions, window dressings and other home furnishings.

Can you see a bed bug?

Bed bugs are visible to the naked eye, but depending on where they are in their life cycle they can be hard to see. Adult bed bugs are the easiest to spot. According to the EPA, they are roughly the size of an apple seed and the height of a credit card. Adults are flat and oval-shaped, have six legs, and are rusty red in color. Bed bug larvae, also referred to as nymphs, are white-yellow or translucent in color and are much harder to spot due to their small size. The nymphs go through five stages of life, shedding an exoskeleton at each stage. Throughout these stages the nymphs grow in size from approximately 1.5 millimeters to approximately 4.5 millimeters. Bed bug eggs can be the most challenging to see as they are roughly 1 millimeter — about the size of a pinhead — and are white or clear. Bed bugs tend to be more active at night, as this is when they feed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.
