Welcome to Laura Powers Jewelry, your premier Atlanta-based custom jeweler. Laura Powers offers high-quality certified diamonds, sapphires, and colored stones for less than what you see in local jewelry stores or online stores. Laura has an intimate understanding of the best and most cost-effective way to manufacture your original piece. From the most complex and technically demanding antique reproduction in platinum, to a simple modern piece in platinum or gold, Laura will custom design and create exquisite jewelry, or remodel existing jewelry, for you or your loved one's collection. Please note that I work in all colors of gold and platinum. I do not work in silver, stainless steel, tungsten or titanium. I am happy to repair or appraise any jewelry that I made, but I do not do repairs or appraisals on any jewelry that I did not make.

I read Laura’s excellent reviews and contacted her with a request to design a unique diamond ring using a special diamond I had inherited. We had a discussion about what I wanted. I found her to be professional and very knowledgeable. I felt like the fee was very reasonable. I have to say that the ring turned out way more beautiful than I could ever have imagined!! I had purchased an emerald to create a unique and singular engagement ring for my life partner. Laura made the process simple and enjoyable. She entertained my litany of questions (I am an engineer by trade so I tend to overthink most things) and had excellent advice, you can really tell she cares about her work and has the experience to guide you to a piece that will be not only of exceptional quality and beauty, but also will stand the up to the test of trends coming and going through time. As a 24 old at the time, I had just started browsing engagement rings as my girlfriend and I had been together for over 3 years. After going to a couple of other local jewelers in Atlanta first, I didn't feel too confident in any of them yet as I was looking for a jeweler that could not only put together a great product, but also pair that with some basic diamond education and excellent customer service. When I came across Laura, I could tell that my experience would be much more personalized than other places. Laura did an outstanding job of educating me on the basics (the 4 C's, etc) and really steered me in the right direction to get the best bang for my buck. Luckily, I already had a picture of the type of ring my girlfriend wanted - for which Laura took the ball and ran with. One thing I noticed was how large her selection of stones was, as we were designing a 3 stone oval diamond ring. She made this process extremely easy and was able to locate matching diamonds with about the same clarity, color and of course cut. Not to mention, she designed the perfect setting for us once the stones were picked out. Overall, Laura is one of the most knowledgeable jewelers in the Atlanta market who will give you a personalized experience right from the start. My fianc is in love with her ring (says it really is the one she always dreamt of) and we've received non-stop compliments on it. Highly recommend her if you are looking to design a very personalized ring at a reasonable cost.

I offer package discounts with the purchase of a center diamond or gemstone and the custom built piece in which to set it.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A conversation to determine the clients needs and budget, and then a face to face or telephone meeting to select gemstones and discuss the details of the design.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in the industry since 1983 and running my own business since 1990. I was trained at the bench through internship, and at the Gemological Institute of America. I have certification from GIA in diamonds and colored stones and was the sales manager at Tiffany and Company Atlanta in the late 1980's.
