Just as other skilled tradesmen take pride in their work, I am no different. Although sometimes the pride I take in my work can sometimes seem detrimental. I am an all around handyman and finish carpenter. In finish carpentry for example, I can find myself going further and further back chasing down poor previous work. Perhaps it’s any illness but if I’m trimming out a room I simply can’t leave something wrong or poorly constructed next to my work. These repairs are almost always outside the agreed scope of work, so in the immediate this habit can seem to cost me quite a bit of time and money. However, my clients immediately identify the quality of work and my relentless attention to detail. They are always repeat customers and their referrals always keep me busy. So in the end, the extra time spent didn’t cost me a thing.
