Ernie installed the new laminating floors for our condo. He responded to my request on Thumbtack, his labor cost was lower than another company. I asked him to come to measure the size and he measured 980 sq ft, 30 sq ft more than another company. He used 1000 sq ft to calculate the labor cost, total was $2000, other company used 950 sq ft to calculte the labor cost, but $2.50 per sq ft. Ernie's total cost for labor was lower than other company. However we chose Ernie to do the job not only his price was good and competitive, but also he was professional and experienced. He showed me his license and insurance bond when he first met me, then he gave me a written estimate and contract with his signature. and he brought some samples with him. He agreed to pick up the materials and dispose the old carpets for us. I liked the sample materials he brought, the price and quality was better than the similar materials in Home Depot. The job has been completed within the time frame as he promised. We first met on 1/2 Monday night, he ordered the materials on 1/3 , started to remove old carpets on 1/5, and came back on 1/9 to do the installing till 1/13. He was also flexible to adjust his schedule to meet our needs. Every time when I had questions, he always replied in a timely manner and answered my questions. He respected our decision and preference when he helped us choose the materials, and he gave his advice in a professional way. We are very happy to hire Ernie to do this job for us. Clean up the wood dust was the only problem we found after the job was done. The floors were very dusty and it's hard to clean up completely as we expected. We used dry Swiffer to sweep the floors several times, and still saw a lot of wood dust every time. I finally checked with Ernie and he suggested me to use Bona wet cleaning pads. I suggested Ernie to include the clean up cost in his estimate in the future. At least he can vacuum the floors and make sure no wood dust left on the floors.

Ernie was great to work with! As first time home buyers my husband and I were nervous about who to hire to refinish the real hardwood floors in our living room, hallway, and 3 bedrooms. Before choosing to go with him we met with a few other people, but didn't get the same feeling. We're very glad we went with Ernie. He was professional, personable, knowledgeable, FAST, efficient, and well priced!
