FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
-I will always give discounts to military and seniors. -there is never a consultation fee, you shouldn't spend money to find out how much something is going to cost -if we can do multiple projects at the same time, i will give a discount The bottom line is I try to do excellent work at a fair price. I want my clients to feel that they were treated fairly and given a good value for their money. At the end of the day i know i'm not building my bank account, i'm building relationships with people. I want my clients to feel good about calling me any time they have a need for my services, not just this time, but every time. Pricing can vary depending on scope of project, species of woods and processes involved. I try to give a ballpark number when i send my introduction, but i also note that to give an accurate quote i like to meet in person.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
i like to have an initial conversation, preferably in person, to learn about their needs, requirements and taste. This is about a 30 min meeting but allows the client to learn a bit about me and my company and what i can bring to the table. If i can i try to work up a quote while we are meeting so they can ask any questions that may come up. This isn't always possible with some projects, so i will take my notes home and work up a project proposal that includes all the details that were discussed in person as well as any recommendations or suggestions i may have. This proposal will include a price and payment requirements. Any revisions can be made at this point and once we come to an agreement we finalize payment and scheduling.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started in a small custom woodworking shop in my early 20s. I worked at that first shop for 6 years before moving to a different shop. Over my career i have worked at a total of 6 different shops which allowed me to learn different styles of building and finishing. Had i stayed at one shop my whole career, i feel i would have missed out on a lot of processes i learned from working closely with so many extremely talented wood workers. I design every cabinet and piece of furniture that comes out of my shop. It is something that i love to do and i truly enjoy the challenge of being given a laundry list of wants and producing something that uniquely meets all of those needs. I am a creative person at heart and always have been. I love to bring that energy to the shop. Between the skill of the people i work with and our unique way of problem solving, i feel there isn't a project we cant undertake!
