We could not be happier with our decision to hire Kevin Snyder as our photographer. We initially came across Kevin on Thumbtack and reached out for a quote. Kevin's communication was absolutely fantastic and he was incredibly professional and amazing to work with. We are originally from Colorado but moved to Alabama last year and then eloped. As our roots are here, we wanted our photographs to be in Colorado. Additionally, my husbands' family is all here in Colorado and asked that we book some time for family photos as well. At the time of researching/booking, we were in Alabama so it was impossible to meet with potential photographers in person and everything took place over the phone. My husband and I had some stress about managing the photo sessions (varying family expectations and contradicting options) and balancing things to where everyone felt heard and respected. Kevin is the ONLY photographer that we felt heard our concerns and understood the stress we were experiencing. He was the one who suggested to us that we do two sessions, a private/secret one for myself and my husband, and then a session for our family. One of the largest points of contention we had with family was location. My husband and I wanted a setting representative of our life here. We fish and hike and used to live up in the mountains. Our family wanted a more local setting that didn't require such a long drive. Kevin heard our concerns and suggested numerous spots for both scenarios. We ended up going to Officers Gulch for our private session and then Waneka Lake for our family session. Kevin was amazing at both locations. My husband and I are not very outgoing and Kevin did an amazing job directing and suggesting different poses for us. We got our photos back quickly (I feel like it was 4 days) and OMG they were absolutely stunning! One of my concerns when hiring a photographer is a lot of photographers will limit the # of photos they provide to you. Kevin sent us the best of the best photos and we received I believe 140? I have at least 35 absolute favorites. At some point on the shoot he took photos of just my husband, which I was totally unaware of, and those were such a nice surprise for me. The family photo session also went amazingly for us. We had 6 children (3 ten year old girls, a 6 year old girl, a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old girl) and then 17 adults. None of my in-laws enjoy photos and are quite introverted. Kevin did a great job working with the kids, figuring out their very different personalities and playing off them. My step daughter loves to be in the spotlight and wanted to be included in all of the photos and he was excellent at making her feel included but also setting boundaries and remaining in control. We have not received those pictures back yet but have no concerns that they won't be everything we wanted and more. I cannot recommend him enough. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will customize my services and prices to work within peoples budgets and offer a discounted rate to non-profits.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we have an initial phone call to discuss the clients request. Then we either meet in person or decide upon logistic and services over the phone and email. I tend to customize my offerings and can offer a sliding scale pricing system as needed. Once the session/event is photographed, I bring the images back to the studio and edit to perfection. Then I post images on a private gallery for downloading and purchasing prints. Custom albums, books and print packages are also available.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in Photography from RIT and a MS in Environmental Education from Leslie College. My first photography job was over 25 years ago as a wedding assistant. Since then, I have shot almost all genres of requests and have taught photography in schools, nature centers, and private groups. I am continuously taking classes and workshops to perfect my skills and technique.
