What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask them what they intend to use the material for, whether it's for personal or public use as that would factor into my recommendations regarding size, design, and reproduction. I spell everything out in a contract to make sure both sides understand what is wanted, then I supply rough designs along the way to make sure the client is happy with how the work is progressing. I give the client plenty of opportunities to make changes in text and/or images so that the final result is more than they hoped for or imagined.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Commercial art and a BA in English/creative writing.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've wanted to write and illustrate books since I was 7, when I wrote "The Elf and the Toad." That desire progressed into designing books and other graphic design work.
