Ben Franklin and their tech, Christian, was professional and provided a quality service to diagnose a problem with our Sump Pump, but they lacked transparency and I would not use them again.
They started by reaching out on Thumbtack and explained they would charge an initial fee of $50; however, if they ended up doing repairs that $50 would be included in the cost of repairs. When the tech showed up he explained the sump pump was not working (which I already knew) and he would have to charge me a diagnostic fee of $99. I told him this was confusing because the person on the phone said the diagnostic fee was $50. He then explained the $50 was to show up to the door, THEN there was a $99 fee to diagnose. I asked if they would provide a discount. He said he could remove the $50 door fee and they would only charge $99. When I challenged the fact that I was paying a door fee an a diagnostic fee but the lady on the phone told me it would only be $50, he said he did not know what the call center said. Needless to say, when he showed up I was led to believe I would be paying $50 not $149.
Again, punctual quality service, but due to the lack of transparency along with the hidden fees I would not use this company again.
On top of that they wanted over twice as much to replace the sump pump that the next company wanted. Not great.
