Introduction
I've been teaching the piano since 2010 and I love it. I love working with students (especially children) and guiding their progress. I do my best to make the lessons fun and motivational while still providing the discipline necessary to learn music. I teach all of my private lessons online. All that is required is a laptop or tablet with a built in microphone and camera as well as a good internet connection.

I would like to share with you what a good piano teacher I had with Kyle. He was my teacher for one and a half years. I am an adult learner and my piano ability is at an elementary level. Because Kyle took a break from teaching, he is no longer my teacher. However, should I ever need a new teacher, I would ask Kyle again. Here are the reasons why I liked Kyle as a teacher: 1. Kyle was always friendly, courteous, patient, and respectful. 2. During our time together I saw that he taught because he loved music, and he enjoyed sharing that love with others through teaching. 3. Kyle was on time for my lessons and was flexible when I needed to change a lesson time to accommodate a change in my schedule. 4. He guided me in the basics of learning notes, counting, beats, scales, rhythm, and dynamics. 5. He was knowledgeable of different types of music and composers and suggested a good variety of music for me to learn. 6. He explained the details of each new piece and reviewed difficult measures verbally and by playing the music on the piano. 7. He showed me the best fingering on new pieces that was helpful. 8. He answered my technical questions easily and thoroughly.

My seven year old has been taking online piano lessons with Kyle for about a month. She's really enjoying the lessons. She wasn't too interested in learning piano before we started and to be honest she still isn't overenthusiastic about piano but she is about Kyle and his lessons. She is always excited on Thursdays because she gets to have her lesson with Kyle. Kyle and I have talked about how much she should be practicing and so far he has a simple and effective approach. It is mainly do not push too much, too soon. He is more focused on instilling a lifetime of musical enjoyment rather than making as much progress as possible in a short amount of time. He said, "if we push her to practice too much, too soon, then her current indifference towards piano will build into a progress halting hatred." I have to agree with him on that. I had clarinet lessons as a kid and was pushed too fast and eventually it became a chore for me and I despised it. I am sure many other adults have experienced something similar in their youth. For now, she goes and plays through her song when she feels like it without any pressure from me or my husband to practice. Kyle's plan is to let her do this for the first six months and then we have her start practicing 5 or 6 days a week for 5 or so minutes per day. Then we gradually start to increase the practice time as her music gets more complicated. Kyle also says that listening to music, any kind of music that she enjoys, is the most important thing. If she develops a natural love for music, then there will be much more motivation for learning and practicing an instrument Like I mentioned at the beginning of this essay (lol), is that it has only been a month but Kyle has been very impressive and I am glad we found a teacher like him.

Details: 6 - 9 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a keyboard • 30 minutes • Remotely (phone or internet)

Thanks for the essay lengthed review Dawna :D! I have had many young students that showed zero interest in piano when they first started but they really enjoyed having lessons with me. After a while, the students that still do not like learning piano are not shy in letting me and their parents know. However, there are also students that start to enjoy learning piano and practicing. We just gotta give the kids time because if we push them too soon then we can end up pushing them away before they actually give it a chance. Thanks again.

The online piano lessons with Kyle are great. He is the definition of a professional. My daughter has been with Kyle for a few months, during and after the first lesson, I could tell that Kyle will be a wonderful teacher and someone I could trust and depend on. My daughter had 2 years of lessons with two different teachers prior to starting with Kyle and they were very unreliable. They would say something and never follow through. Sometimes they would cancel the lessons with less than 30 minutes before we were supposed to start. With Kyle, we never have to worry because we know that he'll be on time and prepared for her lesson. He is knowledgeable, patient, funny and gets along great with both my kids. Only my daughter takes piano lessons but her younger sister loves talking with Kyle and showing him all of her toys.

Details: 10 - 13 years old • Yes, the student can read music • 2 - 4 yrs of formal training • Classical • Yes, the student has a piano • 45 minutes • Remotely (phone or internet) • At the pro’s location • My home, venue, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to write the review Farhan. As the teacher, I am the one that sets the tone for how lessons will go. If I want my students and their parents to take the lessons seriously, then I need to be professional and respond to their messages in a timely manner as well as be someone that they can count on.

Kyle is a truly professional piano instructor, who has established a very complete teaching routine that covers every aspect of piano learning; he covers theory, ear training exercises, technique, etc. Kyle is very patient with our 7 year old child and is extremely capable to keep his attention through out the class. Even though the classes are remote he is always correcting our child's posture, hand placement, finger technique, etc. We are seeing good progress with our kid, he is growing more and more excited about his piano classes. We would highly recommend Kyle, he is an exceptional teacher, very punctual each and every time, and always trying his best to accomodate to our needs.

Wow! Thank you for the detailed review Alejandra. I try my best to work on everything with my students. When I first started teaching 10 years ago, I mostly taught students by reading music only and not focusing on training their ears. I quickly learned that this was a mistake. In order for young children to enjoy learning an instrument, there has to be challenging moments that require extreme focus but also fun and relaxed moments where they can make up their own little melodies or play a melody by ear. It also helps them become a better, well-rounded musician, not just pianist.
