Neil is amazing! I had only a small amount of self-taught drum experience from long ago and was nervous about reading music. After my first lesson I knew I was in the right hands to learn to play drums the correct way. He knows his books and lessons like the back of his hand because he's been teaching for so long. Not only is Neil encouraging and supportive, he adds humor and lightness to his lessons. With that friendly demeanor, he firmly makes sure I do every measure correctly before I can move on, and without being a taskmaster. He's a stickler for proper form and execution, but I always know he'll be patient with me as I figure it out, and then tell me a joke to keep it light. In fact, he likes that his students figure things out on their own, and I appreciate that because it makes me remember how to do it the way that makes sense to me and reinforces the confidence I have in my ability. I'm now looking at drum sets and he is super knowledgeable and helpful, checking his suggested websites for the best deal.
I feel empowered after every lesson with him and it absolutely makes my week!
