Introduction

As we all feel, math can be a bit intimidating and stress-inducing. My style is to make it fun and light-hearted while you learn. I like to think my approach is to break down complicated concepts into smaller parts to make learning a bit less overwhelming. I concentrate on mastering the fundamentals and then ease my students into the 'hard' stuff. *A bit about me* I received my California teaching credential in 2010. I have a Bachelor's in Mathematics and a Master's in Statistics. I taught middle school math - prealgebra, algebra, geometry, and high school math & statistics. This included Pre-calculus, Calculus & Statistics. Currently, I am a director at a marketing & advertising firm where I educate/train professionals in data analytics. I also work with college interns throughout the year showing them how math/statistics are applied in the world of advertising/marketing. Education is my passion and math is my heart. I am able to tutor math & statistics at all levels. We can always talk first to see if we are a great fit.

Hieu tutors 2 of my children remotely, both in high school. They have been doing a lot better in their classes. She has a great system for video tutoring. My kids would send her math problems/notes before hand and she uploads them to a white board for the tutorial. I’ve watched her tutorial and it’s just as good as it is in real life tutoring. Her white board allows her to use multiple pen colors, highlighters, and even insert graphing paper, or images during the tutorial. The best part is that, after all is done, everything written is sent to my kids and they can keep it as notes so nothing is missed. She sends them via email or directly to their phone where they can save it and access it at any time. As a busy parent she has made it quite easy for my kids to get the help they need without me having to intervene. They also really like her too!

Ms. Nguyen is the perfect tutor! She understands math really well and is able to communicate with me in simpler terms so I can understand it better. She teaches with much professionalism and have placed the value of me understanding the concepts over focusing on getting the right answer for all the problems we went through. She's able to answer all my questions and the best part is that we do a short review after solving a problem to ensure that I understand the concepts. One of the best math tutors I've had! Would recommend to all my friends!

A+ service. My daughter is doing well in AP statistics, but with the distance learning you just don't know if it will hurt performance during AP exams. Having Hieu step in and give 1 on 1 tutoring makes me confident my student will be well prepared. Hieu is also very personable and strictly observes COVID precautions.

Hieu was such a pleasure to work with. She really made complex concepts easier to understand and provided me with tips to save time during my homework and exams. I was failing my statistics at the time and with her help I passed my class with an A-. She is very accommodating and even would go out of her way to answer last minute questions before my exams.

Hieu tutored my daughter in precalculus and was able to relate to her. My daughter dreaded her math class and it would be like pulling teeth at times to get her motivated. After we hired Hieu, we can see our daughter having a different attitude towards her math class. She looked forward to her tutoring sessions and it seemed like they had even fun learning at times laughter and all! I highly recommend Hieu, she made a big difference with my daughter.

My hourly rate is $65 per hour
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, we set up a 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals and schedule for tutoring. At this time, you can ask me any questions you like and we can get to know each other a bit. Next, we will exchange information & set up a time. If we are tutoring remotely, I will show you how to set up our online whiteboard to get us going!
