I hired Yury to remove popcorn ceilings and paint my house. If you’re looking for someone who offers competitive pricing compared to other painters, Yury is a solid choice. However, there are a few areas where he could improve, particularly with communication.
His estimate only covered the painting itself, which I wasn’t aware of at first. I assumed it included the cost of paint and debris removal/haul after the job, but I later found out that I needed to supply the paint and handle the debris removal myself. Additionally, Yury’s estimation of the amount of paint required was off, and I ended up buying more than necessary.
That said, Yury did an excellent job with the popcorn ceiling removal, re-caulking gaps between the roof and beams, and painting everything—including the walls, baseboards, and cabinets—neatly. He took his time, about 3 weeks, to complete the work. If you’re not in a rush and want to save some money, he’s the right person for the job.
One important tip: when asking for an estimate, be extremely specific. Don’t assume that mentioning doors, cabinets, or baseboards in passing means they’ll all be painted. Go room by room and clearly state what needs to be done. We had an issue where the office door was left unpainted because Yury claimed we didn’t specify it. To avoid misunderstandings, it’s best to put everything in writing upfront.
