Luna Sol Catering has a unique union of an accomplished chef and a sommelier. Chef Majid was born in south of Iran, which is known for delicious seafood dishes; Chef Majid spent his young adult years in Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver, Canada. He has spent his adult life crafting a unique and yet authentic style of flavors, honing his craft while also living in Denmark, Turkey, and Spain. in 2016, he moved to California where he became the head chef & part owner of a Mediterranean restaurant, Mezzet in South Coast Plaza. A staple that had been in business almost 30 years, and sadly could not survive after the pandemic. What makes Chef Majid the happiest in life is how the union of food and people is a cause of celebration by itself, and if there is a milestone event to be rejoiced over, well, that’s just the icing on the cake. Some of the famous people Chef Majid has had the pleasure in creating dishes for are Prince, Jason Statham, Micheal Douglas, Kate Blanchett, Billy Chrystal, Bill Cosby, Robert Danny Jr, Brandon Fraser, Guinea Stefani, Leonardo DiCaprio, John C Riley, Kevin Spacey, Denis Rodman and many, many more.
Sommelier Anastasia first became fascinated with the production of wine when she was a child. Her family’s home bordered a plot of San Antonio Winery’s Vineyard in Etiwanda, California and she spent much time on the vineyard and even was allowed to sit on the wagon as the grapes were harvested in the field and then brought back to the barn. Her grandfather owned four-pool halls in the Inland Empire and by the age of 18, she was bartending and learned how to pour a man’s drink. By the time she was in her early 20’s she worked for Club 33, Disneyland and by her mid-20’s she was working for Robert Mondavi Winery where she went through an intense wine education program that lasted over 1,000 hours. She spent many years in fine dining restaurants bartending, learning many different types of craft cocktails and has created many on her own; alcoholic and non.
Chef Majid and Sommelier Anastasia first met working at Mezzet and received many compliments of tailoring food and drink according to a guest’s palate.
A goal we have for ourselves that we would like to accomplish in the next year is to be one of the best in the food industry by making unique dishes with original inspired recipes and to have a perfect pairing of beverage to complete the experience for our clients.
