Introduction

Tennis is my passion and I would really enjoy giving you lessons! I have been playing tennis for 40+ years. I am a member of the USTA (United States Tennis Association) and have played in USTA league tennis for 30+ years. This includes 5 trips to USTA National level playoffs. Currently, I am the Head Tennis Coach at an east bay high school. I coach both the boy’s and girl’s teams. In addition, I run a tennis camp for 4 - 8 grade students each summer. I am a Certified Professional of the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association). USPTA certification requires extensive testing of an applicants knowledge of tennis, coaching ability, and personal playing skills. I teach tennis to adults and children of all ages and abilities. I have worked with players with little or no tennis experience to tournament level players. A typical lesson will focus on teaching proper stroke mechanics, good footwork, strategy, and creating a fun and positive environment. Gary is the best! He has so much patience with me. I’m a beginner and he really teaches you the basics not just “hit it back and forth” kinda deal. He really teaches you the fundamentals behind tennis. I wish I could take his class every week!

Gary is a USTPA certified coach and coaches both boys and girls tennis at a local Bay Area high school. He is giving my daughter tennis lessons and has been excellent to date. He has a clear vision on what he wants his students to learn, but also allows for some flexibility in the overall approach. In my daughter's case, he's working with her on having a shorter back stroke when preparing for forehands and backhands. He gave her the option of working more on strategy and keeping her existing forehand and backhand stroke fundamentals in place, or working on modifying and improving the mechanics of both of those strokes. She wanted to improve on mechanics, so that's what she is working on now. I'd highly recommend Gary.
