I can’t recommend Ryan enough. I came to him with a request to build custom, wood pet steps for my dog to be able to climb up to my bed. I was annoyingly specific, from measurements to stain color. Ryan called promptly to understand the full scope and vision and gave me every confidence he could tackle the project with ease. He provided an estimate with an hour. The estimate was precisely in the range I had expected for this type of project. He delivered the steps in two days and they were beyond my expectations. They are sturdy and beautiful. His craftsmanship is truly remarkable. Highly recommend for custom builds, refinishing or tweaking your wood furnishings.

i had an odd job that i wasn't sure was possible and RW Design went above and beyond! i have this shelf desk and it was just a few inches off- RW Design was able to quickly and efficiently trim the pieces needed to fit the space perfectly! they were even able to make it sturdier than how i brought it! 10/10 recommend & would definitely use them in the future!

To ensure transparency, I would like to clarify how the pricing was determined: • The typical cost of custom cabinetry in the U.S. ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot, which is consistent with the estimate I shared. If you google “custom cabinet average price,” you’ll find these prices reported by nearly every major home services website. • 61 inches equals approximately 5.08 feet. Multiplied by the prices listed above ($500–$1,200 per foot), your project would fall within a price range of $2,540 to $6,096. • Your request involved retrofitting existing drawers and addressing dry rot, both of which increase labor and complexity. To reflect these factors, I provided a starting quote of $3,500—a fair price point given the amount of work involved. I always strive to offer flexibility and work with customers to tailor projects to their budgets. My initial quotes are preliminary figures intended to open a conversation, where we can explore the best solution together. Since we hadn’t yet discussed your project in any detail, I responded to your request for a quote using the limited information I had available. Had you allowed our exchange to progress beyond two initial messages, we could have discussed your budget, and I would have been happy to work with you on pricing. ***AVERAGE BASE PRICE PER SERVICE*** CUSTOM FURNITURE BUILDING: • ≈$750.00+ per small item (simple shelving, small floating units, stands, stools) • ≈$1050.00+ per medium item (night stands, large floating units, small cabinets, chairs) • ≈$1,550.00+ per large item (small tables, basic desks, cabinets, dressers) • ≈$2,500.00+ per premium item (desks (w/ drawers), workbenches, sideboards, credenzas, entertainment centers, complex cabinets) FURNITURE REFINISHING: • ≈$500.00 per small item • ≈$1,000.00 per large item FURNITURE DELIVERY & INSTALLATION: $90.00/hour (two workers). Invoiced separately from custom furniture pieces. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
1. Initial consultation: We talk on the phone to determine exactly what you are looking for and I give you a ballpark quote. 2. Design/Estimate: If you approve of the quote, we will schedule an on-site estimate (if need be). I will create a set of drawings and a detailed estimate of the final project. I charge $100-$300 for a on-site estimate, a detailed quote and a drawing set (this is waived if the final project bid is accepted). 3. Work Order: We finalize a total project cost, agree on a payment schedule and begin work. 4. Delivery: We bring your item straight to you and install it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've always loved working with my hands. I grew up apprenticing under my father who is a master carpenter and general contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area. After graduating from UC Berkeley, I began to apply my design and engineering skills to creating custom furniture and performing high end residential remodels throughout the Bay Area.
