Introduction
Hi! I'm June (she/they).
My favorite thing about teaching is seeing my students gain confidence and find joy in making music. Whether I am building a solid foundation of positive experiences for a young student, or working with an older student overcome trauma from harmful teachers in the past - I want to help you integrate music learning as a sustainable and fulfilling lifelong practice!
I offer lessons in:
- guitar
- electric bass
- upright bass
- music theory
- songwriting
- singing (basic technique, how to sing harmonies, writing lyrics and melodies)
As a teacher you can expect me to build a custom plan for you to reach your goals that includes structured exercises, learning music that inspires you, studying music theory as it pertains to your area of study, self care practices, and time to play with and explore your instrument in a fun and non-judgmental manner.
As a guitarist and bassist I have taught a wide variety of styles (jazz. classical, rock, folk, fingerstyle, etc), but my favorite students to work with are involved with writing their own music. I love integrating music theory, composition and singing into my instrumental teaching practices.

June is a great teacher!!!! We are doing lessons over Zoom (most of the time) as we live in different cities. I think this would make it difficult to teach but it hasn't at all. Her knowledge of music is vast. I am an advanced player and I wanted t learn music theory and broaden my musical vocabulary. I had learned some theory before but it was while taking piano lessons and it wasn't translating well to guitar. We have been working together maybe 10 months now and her teaching has had a positive effect on my playing. I have a better understanding of what I'm doing and hearing intervals has become much easier. We are progressing into modes and working on Jazz chord progressions now and with a bit of work on my part I am becoming a better musician. If you want to learn the Guitar or Bass or music theory and composition you couldn't ask for a better teacher. Her patience and upbeat attitude make her joy work with!!!

I've been a self-taught guitar player for a few years now and I've had a lot of trouble learning theory and putting the fretboard together. I honestly thought theory wasn't for me and that I just couldn't learn it. But as soon as I started studying with June, she helped me connect dots about how the guitar and how music work that have been truly mind blowing. She's clearly super knowledgeable on all things music and she's a really articulate and patient teacher. I feel more inspired and connected to the guitar than ever thanks to her. I highly recommend her for all experience levels and styles on guitar and bass.
