Playing the drum set is unlike any other instrument and is quite athletic in its demands. Without understanding how the body can work with the drum sticks and foot pedals, we can develop some seriously poor habits that will interfere with our playing and likely have greater health risks down the road. The more we are able to relax and move fluidly, the better we will play and sound, have greater stamina, and shorter recovery periods in between. Whether you’re just starting out, or have been playing for years, and no matter what your goals are, professional instruction with this conceptual and physical approach will be of value to you. For any parents out there, Johnny is especially good with kids and those who are just starting out. He manages to motivate younger players to want to get better through creating exciting and manageable challenges, while also extending patience and accountability. As a testament, Johnny has also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, a youth mentorship program, for over five years . Johnny is available for in-person lessons at his studio located on the West Side of Los Angeles, as well as online via Zoom or Skype.
