FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There really is no standard price for my garments since each one is unique and requires different amounts of time, handwork and supplies.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask that my clients travel to me so they can see my workshop and physically see and touch my work, we then discuss what is desired, I sketch until we have the desired garment. Measurements are taken, pattern is made, then a muslin mock up of the garment and then is fitted to the client, This way all the kinks are ironed out before cutting into any costly fabrics. If major changes need to be made, a second muslin fitting may be required so there will be no unwanted surprises with the real fabric. Once this is done, the muslin is taken apart and the pattern readjusted. The final fabric is cut, interlined, sewn and fitted to the client. Adjustments are made and the garment gets finished. Sometimes the final step can be the longest wait if there is a great deal of detail and handwork to be done. If the client wants to be fitted elsewhere after the initial meeting, that can be discussed and I can give an additional quote for that.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA degree in Fashion Design from the Otis Art Institute of Parson's School of Design
