Perhaps you believe that all heating and cooling service providers are the same. Maybe you just assume that when you call for service, a smelly, bearded, grizzled trailer park dweller covered with tattoos will show up at your house in his grubby van, leering uncomfortably at your wife / teenage daughter, and causing the neighbors to draw their blinds. Or, you might assume that some weasel will try to upsell you a repair or new installation which will cost your children's college fund - or worse - leave a job unfinished or poorly done. If these are your expectations, you absolutely positively will not recognize Jon O'Brien as your "typical" HVAC service technician. I sent Jon a message late on a Saturday night, and he called me back to ask details about the problem WITHIN 3 MINUTES. Although I wasn't in need of an emergency repair, I did schedule an HVAC inspection with Jon for later that week, to which he showed up right on time, and even texted that he was on his way. When he arrived, the man came up my driveway in a clean work vehicle, and he himself was clean-shaven, wearing a spotless work uniform and actually smelled as if he knew how to use soap and water. He wasted no time whatsoever in inspecting my HVAC system, reported that everything looked good, and then proceeded to give me some information and advice to keep the system in top efficiency and avoid high energy costs. These are not the actions of an HVAC service technician; they fall more into the category of your home HVAC health partner. This man was not merely inspecting my HVAC system - he was carrying the heavy burden of my questions and concerns while accompanying me as a trusted friend along my journey as a homeowner. You are, of course, welcome to call any heating and cooling service provider you choose. However, if you call anyone other than Jon O'Brien of Saguaro Air Heating and Cooling, you are a fool and deserve every misfortune you receive as a result of your unfortunate decision making process. I don't have a son, but if I did, I have no doubt that my wife and I would at least kick around the name "Jon" when he was born, in honor of this noble HVAC wizard.

Jon chose to install a furnace mother board purchased by the homeowner. He arrived on time. He explained the process and gave a fair estimate. My experience with other HVAC company is that they are reluctant to install parts if the part/s does not belong to the company. And the cost is way too expensive even if it meant replacing the part due to a broken screw.

John diagnosed my furnace problem in no time. Bad Ignitor. Another contractor, after spending over an hour trying to convince me I needed a new HVAC system, offered to replace the ignitor for $350. John charged me only a fraction of that other guy. He actually wanted to help me, and he did. Thanks John.

Jon was fantastic from start to finish. We’re definitely going to be using him again the next time we have hvac needs. He is extremely responsive, professional and also doesn’t overcharge like the big companies. We were able to get a quote and completely new system within days and he worked around our schedule since our home is a short term rental. We couldn’t be happier and would recommend Jon with Saguaro Air to anyone looking for quality work at a fair price.

Why the extra star? Service call fee is applied to bill. Good tech. Four other companies do is part of a routine check. Each co. fixed one part of the system and left, leaving the rest to the next person, and guesswork on my part. Paying for the estimate of work like this, I could hire a lawyer for less... just out numerous travel/diagnostic fee. How many more times 🎶🎵. Just a theory, that management of these companies discourage an copacetic repair. Since this review is an extension to overall experience in Hvac matters, I can’t leave out the guys who gave free opinions. All I can do is give thanks and the very occasional tip.

So far so good. I'll update when the install is complete.
Jon responded almost immediately and came out on a Sunday to inspect our 2 systems, he seemed very knowledgeable and was punctual. He did some work on one of our units and the other one is going to be replaced. If everything goes as smoothly as it has so far I'd have no problem recommending Jon to anyone, as well as having be "our AC guy".
Update as promised: So the install was on time and the system worked as advertised but we felt it was a bit louder than expected (our old system was over 20 years and seemed quieter), Jon came out and took a listen for himself and agreed it seemed a bit louder than expected.. After doing some research he came back with a suggestion to improve the volume and came out early on a hot Sunday morning and spent a couple of hours making some tweaks and it's now at a much more reasonable volume. There was no charge for the additional work.
I have no hesitation in recommending Jon for any HVAC work !
