Don't say a price is "total including materials" and then say that materials are extra. That's called lying and it's a great way to lose business.

Hey my name is Matthew Underwood from Underwood's Home Renovations. I have a few openings next month I can fit you in and get this project done for you. The price is for the labor and materials that I will need to do the job (not including the tile purchase). Thanks I hope to talk to you soon.
This is the original messaged send to the customer. It clearly stated the total price is for the labor and materials( not the tile purchase), so context from that the tiles I purchase would be the added charge to the bill. They messaged about the total price was not including the tile purchase and I stated that tiles vary in price and they did not tell me details of the tile they want so I would not be able to add in until we discussed further or met. But after that message they got hostile and did not like my response and told me that I'm lying about the price and out of spite left this review and message.

I’m writing this review to inform potential clients to use extreme caution if working with this person.
In December, I contracted Matthew to rebuild a kitchen cabinet. He communicated very well during the project development phase. The deposit was fair (half the estimated cost) and I provided it immediately. It was estimated the job would be completed within 6-8 weeks.
I had to initiate contact for updates (carpentry takes time so I only contacted Matthew twice in 2 months), and was told the project build was started mid-February and would be completed in one week.
I heard nothing for 4 weeks, so I contacted Matthew. I heard nothing for several days, so therefore contacted Thumbtack’s customer support team. Matthew then contacted me and told the build was starting in mid-March, even though his last message said it started in February.
At that point, I requested to end the build due to lack of responsiveness and the lying on Matthew’s part. It took Thumbtack almost one week to receive a response from him, but the project was discontinued.
Thumbtack customer support was very helpful with navigating this unfortunate incident.
