Winner of Thumbtacks "Best Of" award for both 2015 and 2016, and WAMI nominee for guitarist of the year for 2014, 2015, and 2016, Dan Johnston offers private guitar lessons in the downtown Milwaukee area, five minutes from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee campus - as well as remote lessons nation wide. Dan offers lessons to all levels of students. Educated at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Dan teaches acoustic and electric guitar specializing in the following: classic rock, blues, shred, fingerstyle and jazz. Dan's teaching approach is designed to help the student develop a love and appreciation for music, while learning both music theory and how to play their favorite songs. Dan is great! Super responsive and helpful. My 15 year old son is enjoying his virtual lessons and is excited for everyone! I appreciate the updates after each lesson and the reminder the day of.

I came to Dan for lessons after a couple years away from the guitar and in just a few months Dan has helped me surpass the skill level I was at a few years ago. He is courteous and patient yet gets you to work hard. He is very talented in his craft and can teach any style of guitar.

I was educated at The Wisconsin Conservatory of music and have been a performing professional musician since 1989. I have been teaching guitar since 1992.
