FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Initial consultation/evaluation (approx. 4 hours) $110 plus nominal mileage/travel fee (add $30 for multiple dogs). Puppy (11 months and younger) follow-up sessions (2 hours) $50 plus nominal mileage/travel fee. Adult follow-up sessions (2 hours) $75 plus nominal mileage/travel fee. Shelter rescue discounts available, as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once hired, I will follow up to schedule an initial evaluation/consultation session, which takes approximately 4 hours. The client will have some paperwork to fill out, I observe and comment on behaviors as they happen, I educate people to some basic dog psychology and principles of positive reinforcement training, and there is actual hands-on training with your dog(s). This allows you and your dog(s) to meet me and see if we are a good fit for one another. Before I leave, I provide you with some homework or things to adjust or work on prior to our next meeting. If we are working on general obedience, I make sure you and your pup know "watch me," "sit", "down" and "wait." Quite often it only takes a couple of visits and simple "tweaks" to your current routine to see vast improvement.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Accredited dog trainer with PetSmart for 3 1/2 years and now a certified professional dog trainer with my own business, established in September 2015. I am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and Pet Professional Guild, where I participate regularly in webinars and continuing education. I am also a Pet Evaluator for Therapy Pets Unlimited and an AKC Canine Good Citizen/Star Puppy Evaluator.
