John's work is excellent! He knows how to troubleshoot problem issues and come up with lasting solutions. I asked him to look at two very rundown and ill-fitting fence gates that had been the product of the previous owner's DIY efforts. He talked me through his ideas and took the time to comprehensively answer questions in terms that the layperson could understand. He was also very mindful of my budget, which I very much appreciate. He ended up building two new gates for me that are skillfully sturdy and built to last! He also made new pickets for the front yard fence. For both, fences he used materials I already had as well as materials he had left over from a prior job. I originally called on him to troubleshoot poorly set strike plates on four exterior doors. I also wanted him to troubleshoot the recently installed weatherstripping that made it virtually impossible to open and close the doors smoothly. This turned out to be quite an undertaking, requiring the doors to be removed and the bottoms of each customized to fit properly in the door frames so that weatherstripping could be meaningfully placed. Then, he was able to deal with the poorly set strike plates. My goal was to have it so I could lock and unlock the deadbolts without having to use two hands to push and pull on the door while turning the key so the locks could be unlatched. I could see how a broken key was in my future if nothing was done. Now, all my doors open smoothly and I can unlock any of the deadbolts with a bag full of groceries in my other hand. John's work is of outstanding quality. He's very meticulous and precise about detail, including any supporting structures that won't be visible. That, alone, is the sign of a true craftsman who cares about the finished product so the customer's goals are met in the best way possible. John is very communicative and responsive and has a very personable attitude. He's punctual, takes the time to understand his customers' goals, and then walks through the game plan to ensure full understanding. Finally, he walks through the finished jobs to make sure the customer is happy with his work. Needless to say, I was thrilled! I found his rates very reasonable, particularly given the high quality of his work and his approach to each task at hand. I recommend him wholeheartedly and without reservation. Thank you, John!

I sort of jumped in and started to work without even giving her a price. So unprofessional but Lisa wanted it done now.
