I've worked with Paul on multiple projects and have been consistently impressed with their knowledge, attention to detail, and collaborative approach. Their designs always meet and exceed our expectations, and they're always available to answer questions and provide valuable insights. I highly recommend RR Designs to anyone in need of architectural services.

While Paul did a good job sometimes, we had major issues with communication, timeliness, many mistakes and in some cases a rude coworker. Regarding communication -- I felt that most of the time he ignored my calls, texts and emails and only responded days or weeks later. Many of the designs he produced had significant errors in calculations or code compliance, and producing corrections took several weeks, which delayed our permit. Rather than getting on a call to discuss mistakes and corrections, he would ignore emails for a while then suddenly send me an update a few days later that corrected some errors but introduced others. Also, some of the initial claims (e.g. about not being able to fit a skylight) didn't seem based on any measurements and were later reversed. The timeline issues were significant as I had communicated to Paul on the first day of working together that my #1 priority was fast turn-around on the permit. When I eventually complained to him about always being late and never answering me or respecting the timeline, his response was simply "I am sorry that you are upset". Finally, one of the folks he works with (LaMonte) was kinda rude in suggesting that he'd start charging me for further changes, when pretty much all of the back-and-forth between us was him sending me designs full of mistakes and misunderstandings, and me requesting corrections to those mistakes. Overall, while Paul did help with producing drawings and clarifying code compliance on some items, I feel like the whole experience was not pleasant. I think Paul has talent and can produce good work if he focuses on clients projects, but the communication and timeline issues means I won't be hiring Paul in the future.

RR Design, Inc.'s reply
Thank you Peter for your feedback. I like reviews whether bad or good. 9 out of 10 reviews are good. Business owners know that they will receive negative reviews. We explain the process in the first visit and it is on the contract. Some people go on their own accord and hold us at their standard. This is where the disconnect happens. Then it becomes two perceptions, two bosses. We provide professional services and produce construction documents for permit use and construction use. We go by the contract and the more resistant a situation becomes the more we are a stickler of following the rules of the contract. The more positive the working relationship is, the more we go up and beyond to help out the homeowners. All projects we work on have 1 common action, it is to complete the project for the use of what we are hired to do. Provide Architectural drawings. Peter is right that we did miss deadlines by a day, possibly two and there were some things that we needed to correct. This is a process and we will get it done or correct our errors. We work on several projects at once and there are unforeseen circumstances that can delay a project. When asked to make changes beyond the scope of work we will let you know at that time per contract we will charge additional hours. LaMonte relied this message as he was asked to do. I am sure he was not rude but informational. Thank you everyone who leaves a review.

I am new to the remodeling world but Paul with RR Design was incredibly helpful and helped to ease my fears. This was such a great experience. I will be recommending this company to friends and family. I will also use their services again.

We're building an Acessory Dwelling Unit and needed a site plan constructed in a short time frame. R&R design put together a site plan for us in just minutes allowing us to obtain permits without waiting weeks. He was hired after another architect bailed in the beginning stages of our project I would highly recommend R&R design for any home improvement or new addition project.
