FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The going rate for lessons begins at $45/hr ($25/ 1/2 hour). If the student is in Spokane, and documentation will be provided, if financial circumstances prevent this (a low income situation), I am open to negotiating a little bit lower of a rate if I'm paid monthly in advance; I grew up unable to afford lessons, and hope to teach others in the same boat.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When working with a new customer, I gather information on where they are musically, what their schedule is like, what they are hoping for short & long-term, if they are able to commute or if I need to go to them, etc: getting to know them information. Lesson-wise, when working with a new customer, I like to assess what the student knows and doesn't know. If it's a vocal student, I'll do a warm up to listen to their range, tone, see their stance and breathing, etc, to get an idea of where to start; if it's a piano student, I'll observe their stance, how they move on the keys, etc, to see where to start.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up with a father who sang in street quarter quartets & bands. We sang around the house together. When I was 12 I joined choir, had done Solo & Ensemble competitions within a year, by 16 was in multiple choirs & in a rock band, and started private lessons & my degree collegiately by 24; I've had 6 years of private lessons since then.
