Introduction
Guitar lessons are about you, the student. With so many of the best musical minds now offering top-notch advice to the masses on Youtube and other social media platforms, my lessons focus on the specific needs and goals of individuals. Whether that be learning how play a single chord for the first time, how to read music, how to improvise, how to write your own songs or how to practice with the intent of performing at the professional level, lessons should address your particular strengths, struggles and aspirations. I hold lessons in person, at my home studio in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, about one mile directly west of the University of Washington. Prior to our first meeting, I offer a 15 minute phone consultation to get a better idea of your background, goals and musical interests. I hold a Bachelor's in Music from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in Jazz Studies/Improvisation from the University of Washington. In addition to teaching, I'm an active performer in the Seattle jazz scene specializing in original music - both my own and of fellow composers. I have been teaching for nearly twenty years in high school classrooms, college workshops and private studios in Boston, Austin, Denver and now in Seattle.

Exactly what I was looking for when starting a new instrument- tried electric guitar for the first time and couldn’t figure out where to move forward. Andrew helped create lessons that fit my goals and I was able to focus on specific tasks every week that really increased my motivation and pushed my improvement.

Details: 18 - 25 years old • No formal training • No, cannot read music • Electric • Rock • Classical • Yes, the student has an instrument • 30 minutes • My home, venue, etc. • At the pro’s location

Andrew is a wonderful teacher. He does more than teach you how to play a song. He really gets into music and guitar and what it's all about, giving you a deeper understanding of the instrument which helps you play better in the long run. Highly recommend working with him.

I could really connect with him when it comes to the way we think. Im usually a nerd when it comes to doing something. So learning from a professional who can go into details and throw in some references when explaining makes it interesting and clear for me
